- Great stabilization
- Easy to use
- Very good battery life
- Covers up most of the LCD screen on HERO5 Black
- Not compatible with all GoPros
Really awesome stabilizer, especially if you bought it as a part of the Karma drone.
The GoPro Karma Grip is little $300 doohickey that helps you smooth out your GoPro footage. Instead of shaky, nauseating shots, with the Karma Grip you get smooth, crisp, easy-to-follow footage. Plenty of stabilizers exist, but if you like name brands, this is a really good option. The wrinkle with the Karma Grip is that you can buy it separately or if you buy the Karma Drone it comes as part of a package deal, which is a decent value.
In any case, we think the Karma Grip works well, it has very good battery life (~90 minutes), and it’s something we use every single week. It has buttons on it to allow you to control your GoPro (start/stop, change mode, highlight, etc.). All of this is very convenient. It’s also super easy to setup and use. Out-of-the box, the Karma Grip is compatible with the GoPro HERO5 Black, however, you can purchase a separate harness for the HERO4 Silver and Black. As an FYI, the Karma Grip charges your GoPro so you don’t have to worry about battery life on that, which is nice.
The one thing we don’t love—but is kind of unavoidable—is that the Karma Grip and hoist/neck obstruct your view of the LCD display on your GoPro, making it especially hard to view your footage. Now, you can pair your GoPro with the mobile app to see footage, but it’s not as convenient. Other than that, we are big time fans. It has really helped up smooth out our shots. At $300, it’s not an impulse buy—the price isn’t low enough—but if you’re looking into the Karma drone it’s a nice kicker. Overall, especially happy with the Karma Grip stabilizer.
