- Noise cancelling feature is just ok
The Mixcder might not be the best noise cancelling headphones on the market, but they’re darn good for the price.
The Mixcder E9s are a pair of wireless, over-the-ear, noise cancelling headphones that are easy to use and affordable. They mainly sell on Amazon, and currently retail for $79.99.
Our first thoughts are that they’re comfortable and sleek looking, but read on to learn what else we think about these headphones.
This headphones are big and noticeable, for more of an old school hip hop look, compared to the current trend of Apple AirPods.
They have very soft, comfortable ear pads that completely cover the ear and don’t fatigue your ears as much as a headphone that is worn inside the ear canal would. You can definitely notice that they’re on your head, but they’re not uncomfortable or noticeably heavy.
They weigh 9 oz, so about half a pound. Because of this, we think they’re great for extended use outside of the gym, like around the office or on long plane flights.
They also make it very obvious that you’re minding your own business listening to music, so that people don’t bother you.
These headphones can be used wirelessly via Bluetooth, or with an AUX cord plug in, for versatile use. Keep in mind that your audio quality and connection will be a little bit better via the cord. The headphones themselves are also adjustable and foldable for a good fit. The ear pads themselves can swivel up to 90 degrees.
Using The Mixcder E9
Volume controls are responsive and work well. They’re tactile and clicky buttons, which makes for better feedback and easier use. It takes a little bit of getting used to when memorizing where the buttons are, but nothing you can’t handle.
The Bluetooth range is where these headphones cut corners. We rate it as average at 30 feet with a clear line of sight. It immediately turns off with any barrier, so you can’t leave your phone in one room and use your headphones in another.
These headphones have an excellent battery life. You can get 30 hours from a full charge while using Bluetooth, and up to three days if you’re using the AUX cord. What we love best, though, is the quick charge option.
With just 30 minutes of charging, you can get 10 hours of use. It also charges via a MircoUSB cable, which means you probably have 10 other cords hiding around your house somewhere that you can use with it, as well.
Carrying case is sleek and ergonomic. It looks good, fits well, and is convenient for travel.
Sound Quality & Noise Cancellation
The active noise cancellation on these headphones is pretty good, but it won’t cancel all sound completely like with the Bose QC35 or Beats Studio 3.
The noise cancelling feature can be turned off, as well, so that you can listen to music while being more aware of your surroundings.
As for sound quality, the Mixcder E9’s is pretty good, but not the best we’ve ever tested. They’re definitely good for the price.
At about $80, it’s hard not to like these headphones. We really like the battery life and the quick charge. They’re also really comfortable and not very heavy at all. We think they’ll be great for traveling with. Our only complaint is the Bluetooth range can easily be interrupted, but like we said, we really can’t complain considering the price.
